Frequently Asked Questions

I currently offer shipping services throughout the continental United States via USPS. Shipping fees are determined by whether you choose to have the portrait framed, as this affects the overall weight of the package. We can discuss your preferences, and I will provide a detailed estimated cost before commencing work on your portrait.
-
Portraits are usually completed within 2–4 weeks unless there is a wait list.
-
I paint primarily from photographs, but it's important for me to clearly see all the details of your pet in the image. It helps if you take pictures in natural light, positioning yourself at your pet's eye level instead of shooting from above. The more detailed the photo is, the better the portrait will be.
-
Absolutely! That's really useful for me to observe the fur's structure, details, and colors.
-
Portrait pricing is determined by both the dimensions of the artwork and the number of pets included. For detailed information regarding rates, please refer to my pricing guide here.
-
While I do not personally frame the portraits, I collaborate with a skilled framer located in Vermont who handles all framing for my personal projects. If you would like to include professional framing, I am happy to coordinate this service for an additional fee of $50.

To begin, you’ll send me high-quality photos of your pet. We’ll then choose the best size for your portrait. I’ll send an invoice for 50% of the project cost and add you to my schedule. Please note, there may be a waiting list, especially during the busy holiday season.
Once I start painting, I’ll share progress photos so you can watch your portrait take shape. During this stage, you’re welcome to request minor changes or adjustments to ensure your satisfaction. We’ll work closely together to make sure you’re happy with the final result.
As the portrait is nearing completion, I’ll send a picture for your final approval. Once you approve, I’ll invoice you for the remaining balance, and we’ll arrange for framing if desired, shipping, or you can pick up the artwork at my studio.

Great question! Pastels are a premium, concentrated pigment available as sticks, pencils, or cakes. These materials are lightfast and archival, resisting fading, yellowing and cracking as time passes. To prevent damage, all pastel artworks should be framed under glass using spacers. When properly cared for, your pastel pieces can last for centuries.
